[Haida] Stuttering audio playback
#1
Music
Also reported here

Randomly while playing audio in Apollo sound will stutter for less than half second.

Part of logcat happening every time audio stutter:
"03-17 10:05:56.700 W/AudioSink(229): Event underrun
03-17 10:05:56.700 W/AudioSink(229): Callback!!!
03-17 10:05:56.700 W/AudioPlayer(229): This indicates the event underrun case for LPA/Tunnel"

Will try Carbon ROM soon to check if it's kernel related.

Same problem on my Ray. Go to the new pac performance app and in the I/O Schedulers tab up the read ahead value. Mine is on 512 currently and the problem seems to be gone.

Before bug report I've tested both default settings and amartass2 + SIO.
It desn't fix it.

Apparently it is kernel related.

There have been attempts to "fix" this for Sony Xperia Tablet Z  -(see here, post #325 onwards)  but this fix can cause other problems.

A similar fix has been used in Fidelity ROM by xda developer Windows X.

I have a Tablet Z and I've tried the Fidelity ROM and the CM11 ROM (with zip fix provided by lowtraxx in the link above). In both cases, sound stutter was gone - BUT users have reported other lag problems caused by this 'fix' - most noticeable in games.

The fix increases a buffer size to smooth out the stutter which is caused by the kernel - so the CM team have rejected it because it is not a 'real' fix to the 'real' cause.

So, the kernel needs fixing Sad.
Phone : Nexus 4 (16GB) with  PA KK ROM, Franco Kernel
Tablet : Xperia Tablet Z (311, 16GB WiFi only) PAC 4.4 based ROM

Yeah changing read ahead value doesn't help.
