Unfortunately,google play has stopped working
#1
Hi Guys,

Thank you for the awesome rom!

I hope this post is in the right place.....

I recently downloaded the urushi pacrom RC2 version from here https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/pacman/urushi/nightly/

And also the ggapps CM11 4.4.x from here
https://s.basketbuild.com/gapps.

Everything installed okay, however the ggapps did not come with a playstore app, so i manually installed it. So whenever i open the playstore app I come across the: "unfortunately, google play has stopped working error".

My questions are : Can i just reflash the ggapps without having to reflash the rom?

Is there a way to fix this playstore error?

I have tried the oldest version of the playstore apk and also the latest version of the playstore apk only to have the same problem re-occuring.

I am open to any suggestions.
Regards.

Move the play store to system/priv-app rename it to Phonesky.apk and change permissions to 644 and it should work. You can do this with the app ROM Toolbox Lite

You'll probably need to clean flash, but try with this gapps package I suggest the GApps Minimal version, if you want to use the GApps Minimal X or the GApps Minimal X+ versions, be sure to read what they do because they remove some apps from the ROM, which you probably want to keep using ... unless you already have replacements for them.

Hi BkK, thank you for your reply, i downloaded the rom toolbox and tried copying the phonesky.apk file to the system/priv-app only to have an operation failed error in root browser, i also made sure that the the system folder is mounted and has read and write enabled in the permissions setting.
I also checked if i can copy files to the system/app folder but i get the same operation failed error and the device has enough storage space because i only have 4 apps that i installed.
Thanks for your effort.

Cheers

Hi Langes, Thank you so much for your reply, i will be downloading the google apps soon as I really want to get the playstore working. When you say clean flash, do you mean that i have to re-install the rom along with gapps, or should i just install the new gapps without re-installing the rom?

Thanks

Sorry I forgot to mention that app doesn't work with the built-in superuser if that's what you're using. You have to have SuperSu installed and set as the superuser app for the root functions to work. You don't have to reinstall the entire ROM it's just a common practice for resolving simple issues in case the latter doesn't work.

Thanks for the reply once again, i will let you know how it goes. I'm going to be reinstalling both the rom and the gapps to be on the safe side. Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Regards
